Best of 2018

Weddings

The best of 2018. Wow. What a year, y’all. While writing this blog post, I was drawn to pull out the Best of 2017 to not only reflect on our improvements in technique, but also just remember how far we have come. 2017 was a rollercoaster. We had photographed THIRTY FOUR WEDDINGS in 2017. As much as we fell in love with each one of our couples of 2017, we knew that shooting 30+ weddings was just not realistic for us.

We missed our friends and family time. We missed MULTIPLE cousin’s weddings due to over commitment to our #CostolaCouples, we missed time with EACH OTHER just as husband and wife. We missed a lot, if we’re being honest. So when we looked at the calendar at the beginning of 2018, we knew that this year was going to look A LOT different for us. We lowered the number of weddings that we were taking by TEN. Literally, almost a third less than 2017. And WOWIE has it made the world of difference in our lives!!

Choosing the photos for this year’s Best of 2018 post looked a lot different than last year. Last year, we chose photos that made us want to get out there and shoot again. Photos (and people) who gave us the energy to give our all (and plus some) even when our energy tank was running bone dry.

This year, choosing the portraits looked a lot more like gratitude. Thankfulness for such loving, servant-hearted couples who make us THANKFUL that we are wedding photographers. Couples who make us reflect on our own marriage after leaving just completely filled to the brim with inspiration to have a Christ-like love for others. Couples who trusted us to fly across the country to photograph the most special days of their lives! All 25 of these amazing, beautiful couples have a special place in our hearts and we can not be more grateful for the kindness that they have shown us. We love you all to pieces. Thank you for making 2018 the best year ever.
