Why We Say No To Facebook Messages

With Facebook messages, email, text messages, phone calls, our contact form on our website, Instagram DM’s, and also Facebook’s Pages messenger, you could say that there are A LOT of ways to contact us. This can get SUPER confusing and messages can easily get lost! When messages get lost, that means that our potential clients could be thinking that we are either disorganized or just don’t even care about them! We really try to limit ourselves to two ways of contact when it comes to client inquiries – our contact form on our website and a direct email. To limit the amount of inquiries that we get from allll of the other paths of communication, we use an auto responder! Now, Instagram has yet to come out with one, so we usually have to copy and paste a message that we write up and keep in our notes. However, Facebook Pages DOES have an auto response feature and it has saved us SO MUCH time because we can finally say NO to Facebook messages without our clients thinking that we’re saying no to them!

How to turn on your Facebook Auto Responder

These are directions for how to automatically have messages sent as your business Page’s first response to a new message. We use this to direct potential clients to our email so that 1. we don’t miss out on what they would like from us and 2. we can spend less time checking our social media accounts which allows us to be more present in REAL life!

  1. Click SETTINGS at the top of your Page.
  2. Click MESSAGING in the left column.
  3. Below RESPONSE ASSISTANT, click to select ON next to SEND INSTANT REPLIES TO ANYONE WHO MESSAGES YOUR PAGE.
  4. To change your instant reply message, click CHANGE, update the message to what ever you’d like to say to your potential client and then click SAVE. (we like to say something like, “Hi ______! Thank you so much for your note! In order to make sure we don’t miss any further communication, we’d love to have you email us at info@costolaphotography.com – it helps us make sure nothing gets overlooked!”

That’s it! Simple as pie and now you can rest easy knowing that another message will never be lost or forgotten again!
