It’s finally December and y’all know what that means…the holiday countdown has begun! For some of us, the planning and preparation for the holiday season began the minute Halloween was over. For others, it all starts today! To make your life a little easier, I’ve compiled a list of practical gifts for photographers in your life, no matter what your budget is.
An External Hard Drive // Budget: $50-150

I use this one from Seagate and it is amazing! Many creatives use a different hard drive for each year (because THAT’S how much we use them). And you get the added bonus of knowing we will remember you every single day when it is used!
Memory Cards // Budget: $11-$30

You. Cannot. Ever. Have. Enough. Memory. Cards. Just be careful to make sure which kind of card your friend uses! This is my favorite card, and many of the photographers I know use ones like these as well. However, some people prefer larger cards or have different cameras. Also, if your friend is a film photographer, film is ALWAYS a welcome gift!
Tieks or Rothy’s // Budget: $100-175

This is an especially good gift for wedding photographers, like me! We are on our feet for 8-12 hours and have to dress up as well. It can be incredibly difficult to find cute, professional shoes that don’t add to your exhaustion throughout the day. Although I cannot speak to other types of photography, I know every girl, photographer or not, could use a comfy pair of flats. Tieks and Rothy’s are two excellent options for you to check out!
Spa/Massage Gift Card // Budget: Variable

Running your own business is tough work y’all! It can be overwhelming, scary, and time consuming. Sometimes we forget to eat, get dressed, or shower because it’s so busy. It is difficult for us to take time for ourselves, but having a gift card gives us the perfect excuse for some self care!
Styling Board // Budget: $60-$200

For those of you who don’t know (because I didn’t know for the longest time), these are what we use for flat lays, detail shots, invitation suites, and more! Typically, neutral linen colors are a safe bet. Any kind of ivory, gray, light blue, or soft pink is always helpful. However, marble or stone backgrounds can be very useful too. Check out your photographer friend’s work to see what their style is like and get a sense of what colors would work for them! This is also a perfect gift for any blogger or social media influencer as well. You can find some great ones on Etsy, Curio & Oak, or The Styling Mat. These are the perfect item to DIY too!
Welp, I hope this helped you think of some gifts for the creative in your life! Although this list was created particularly for photographers, many of them are items any creative entrepreneur would like. Also, if you’re a fellow photog and have something on your wish list that isn’t on here, please let me know!
From all of us here at Costola Photography, have a very Merry Christmas and happy shopping!
