Winter Wedding at The Villa

December 30, 2019

Shaina & Yohan

We celebrated the end of 2019 and the beginning of a marriage this weekend with our last wedding of the year! It couldn’t have been for a better couple – Yohan & Shaina were LITERALLY brought together by the hands of Jesus. First, before I show you this beautiful wedding at The Villa in College Park, let me give you a true whirlwind love story heard around the world.. but really.

In August 2018, Shaina’s church elder asked her if she would be interested in meeting a young man IN JAPAN who was a praise leader. Since she is a praise leader at her church, and since Japanese was her major in college (talk about destiny!), she was a little surprised, but she thought she would meet him to see how things went.

Yohan sent Shaina his first email on August 30th, 2018. They started emailing each other and Skyping each other every week and he came and visited her and her family in November for Thanksgiving. At the end of his trip, he surprised Shaina by proposing to her on November 25th, 2018. Shaina then visited Yohan and his family in Tokyo in December 2018 and they had their engagement ceremony in Tokyo on December 30th, 2018. For the months of January and February, they collected all the documents for Yohan’s fiance visa application and they applied in March. They got approval for his visa on June 7th and immediately started to plan their wedding day!

Well, the year has flown by and now they are officially MARRIED!! Seeing these two families come together, after barely knowing each other, you would have NEVER known! They all loved and embraced one another, laughing, dancing… it was the most perfect evening to celebrate a marriage that was clearly blessed by God. Take a look at our favorites from the day!
