- Fiola Mare: If you’re in the mood for a romantic meal with a seaside view – this is the place for you. Here, you may sample excellently simple seafood meals that are inspired by the cuisine served in restaurants along Italy’s coast. Try their three-course tasting menu inside one of their glittering igloos if you’re not feeling brave enough to brave the weather and the terrace by the water with warming beverages and munchies.
- Imperfecto: Imperfecto is a new restaurant by Enrique Limardo and the team behind Seven Reasons. The restaurant is inspired in the intersection between the Mediterranean & Latin American Cultures, and sustained in Enrique Limardo’s bold culinary approach. The restaurant design is inspired by the Greek culture. The oldest definition of “perfection”, goes back to Aristotle, who defined the concept in three: which is complete; which is so good that nothing of the kind could be better; which has attained its purpose.
- Del Mar: The decor is opulent without being stuffy, drawing inspiration from seaside Spain. Those who aren’t scared to splurge should choose the paella, the national meal of Spain consisting of a large serving of rice and a variety of meats and vegetables designed to be shared.
- District Winery: Indoor and outdoor seating is available at this trendy waterside locale. In the colder months, the sunset views over the river from the heated outside patio are not to be missed.
- The Lafayette at the Hay Adams, Downtown: If you wish to impress your date, you won’t go wrong with its New American cuisine and views overlooking the White House. This winter, you can enjoy the great cuisine at the Lafayette with an equally spectacular view by dining outside at Top of the Hay, where they are offering supper, lunch, and brunch.
- Tabard Inn: Feel like giving someone the gift of romance? You can reserve a table in the restaurant’s charming shaded garden patio, which features ivy-covered brick walls and beautiful bronze statues. Both the fireside lounge and the large dining room, both recently restored, are also ideal for a romantic dinner.
- Maketto: With a large café on the second floor, a cozy dining room on the first, and a retail space selling clothing and accessories on the first floor, because why not? If you’re feeling especially ambitious, you may start at the café, browse the racks of clothes, and then play a few rounds of mini golf and skeeball at the H Street Country Club across the street before your dinner reservation.
A Full Experience and Retreat
- The Inn at Little Washington: Our personal favorite! The customer service at this little inn, located in the heart of Virginia just an hour from DC, is next level and unmatched. We were greeted with custom cocktails and high tea time in the garden room while our room was prepared. Plus, there will always be a prime table waiting for you in the dining room if you’re staying the night. Since its humble beginnings as Patrick O’Connell’s restaurant in a converted garage in 1978, the upscale establishment has consistently been ranked among the finest in the country. Customers go from far and wide now to sample its unique dishes, which vary from Caesar salad ice cream to lamb carpaccio. The tasting menu (and hotel reservation!) at this restaurant is one of the best we have ever experienced.
- Inn at Perry Cabin, St Michaels, MD: So technically the Inn at Perry Cabin isn’t in DC, but we had to include it nonetheless. Candlelight, fresh fish, and waterfront views make for a memorable date night at this Eastern Shore resort’s greenhouses.
