Emily
This mini Richmond portrait session has a soft spot in my heart!
This is my one of my dear friends and sorority sister, Emily. Emily was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in early March of this year after going to the doctors for what she thought was strep throat! After doing a chest scan and biopsy, they found that Emily had a 15mm mass in her chest which was pushing on her airway!
That week, and the weeks since, have consisted of constant tests and trips to the hospital. On March 15th she received the official news from her biopsy that she had Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. On March 22nd it was determined to be Stage 4 since it has spread to her liver.
The recommended treatment is chemo for 6 months, followed by radiation. To date, Emily has undergone a biopsy surgery, a port placement surgery, had a stent placed because her airway was only open 1mm due to the tumor pushing on it and has had her first chemo treatment.
After many surgeries, treatments, doctors appointments, drives to cancer centers, our Emily is officially on her 4th of 6th chemo cycles! Her mass in her chest is gone! We really wanted to celebrate her with a mini session by the Canal Murals in downtown Richmond to show that no matter what life may bring her, she’s got more than enough kick back! Emily, you are STUNNING and we continue to pray for your journey of recovery! We just ask that everyone who reads this post also says a prayer for Emily and keeps her in your mind through out her healing.
