It’s been a busy week of editing here at the office because this roadtrip to second shoot a Key West for Jeff and Katie’s Southernmost Beach Resort wedding with Candace Nicole Photography was JAM PACKED with portrait sessions and even a surprise proposal! This was my first time second shooting a wedding – which may be pretty surprising to some people considering that most all photographers get into their own wedding photography business by starting out as second shooters to learn from others who have been in the industry longer. I didnt have the opportunity to do that, so I just jumped in head first! But I can say, second shooting was a great experience because I got to see how another photographer handles a wedding day – what she does differently that I may want to implement into our own business to make wedding days that much sweeter for our couples!
What’s awesome to know, is that Candace and I essentially run our wedding days identical! Which made it SUPER easy to know where to go, what to do, what to shoot, what is necessary, and how to treat our couples. It was definitely fun – even despite the cloudy and windy weather. It’s also a bit nerve wracking showing up to a wedding for a couple that you have never spoken to or met before! But Jeff and Katie were SO SWEET and welcome me onto the wedding day team with open arms. Their friends and family who flew all the way to the southern most point of the United States were not only the most friendly people, but they were HILARIOUS! Top off a good crowd with some of the most gorgeous wedding day island-style details that you have ever seen.. you could say I was in heaven!
