Meet Marie

Hey there y’all! My name is Marie Medina and I am the newest member and associate photographer for the Costola family! I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Laurel, Maryland but I am a Jersey girl all the way! I wanted to hop on here and give you guys a little more info so you can get to know be better. So here’s my life in a few paragraphs…

I was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania and moved to Lawrenceville, New Jersey when I was four years old. I grew up in New Jersey and loved every minute of it. It wasn’t until I went away for college that I started living in Maryland. I went to the University of Maryland in College Park and that’s where life as I know it now really began. My husband, Daniel, and I met and started dating in the first few weeks of my freshman year… SCANDALOUS! And to add to the drama, he was two years older
than me. We always joke that it would be a really awkward story if it didn’t work out. In October 2016 we got engaged and were married on August 11th , 2017 (guess who our wedding photographers were?!). We were 21 and 23 when we got married and wouldn’t change a thing. Now it’s over a year later and marriage has taught me so much about my amazing husband and myself. It truly is a gift from God and I am so grateful that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend!

The minute we got engaged, I reached out to Andie about being our photographers. As an aspiring photographer at the time, I had my top picks for who I wanted to be behind the lens at our wedding made before we were even engaged! Two year ago, Costola Photography hadn’t even been born yet, so I just contacted Andie on her site and anxiously waited for her to tell me if she was available. WE DIDN’T EVEN HAVE A WEDDING DATE Y’ALL. Needless to say, hiring Andie and Tony was one of my best
wedding planning decisions. Here we are two years later and they are my friends and coworkers! How stinkin’ exciting! I admire these two so much personally and professionally, this is truly a dream come true for me.
Now that y’all have a general idea of my love story and photography journey, here are some things you need to know about me:

A list of my favorites…

  • TV Show: Dancing with the Stars
  • Food: Jersey blueberries
  • Dessert: Chocolate cake
  • Color: Light blue (you can see why I joined the #CostolaFam now…)
  • Book: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis
  • Place to Travel: Madrid, Spain
  • Starbucks drink: Caramel Frap
  • Song: Gimme That Girl by Joe Nichols (Warning: my favorite song
    changes on a daily basis)
  • Article of Clothing: VESTS.

I got my BS in Marketing and Spanish from the University of Maryland (UMD) and graduated early.

I have an older brother who was my biggest role model growing up and he
lives in London with his wife.

I am neither a night owl nor early bird…I go to bed early and sleep in every
chance I get!

My biggest fear is the Joker from Batman.

My hair is naturally blonde and I don’t plan on changing it, but if I ever decide to dye it, I would love to try a dark red color!

Lakes over beaches. Every. Time.

I played competitive soccer from ages 8-18 and miss it weekly. My parents
forced me to try out for my first club team against my will – guess it just goes to show that sometimes parents really do know best! I will always consider myself a soccer player.

I have one of the world’s biggest sweet tooths, but refuse to waste it on
anything vanilla. Chocolate all the way!

I hope y’all have a better sense of who I am now! It has been so fun getting to share a little bit of me with you and I cannot wait to get to know all of you guys. See ya around!

Xoxo,
Marie
